Analysts reveal how the Leafs may be planning to deploy Luke Schenn

Luke Schenn was scheduled to meet the Leafs in Calgary last night after their game in Edmonton and it is unclear if he will jump into the Leafs' lineup tonight yet or not. Coming over from Vancouver in exchange for a third round pick, Schenn saw a lot of time playing alongside Quinn Hughes averaging just over 17 minutes per game this season.

On "The Real Kyper and Bourne Show" on Sportsnet 590, Justin Bourne and Nick Kypreos discussed how the Leafs could deploy Schenn and their thought may surprise you. They suggested at first that Schenn could possibly come in and replace Justin Holl alongside Morgan Rielly on the Leafs' top pairing citing Rielly's better play next to stable, stay-at-home defencemen. If that doesn't work TJ Brodie could move back up and Schenn could play with Jake McCabe on the second pairing.

However, the most likely option, Kypreos and Bourne noted is that Schenn will do what he did with Tampa during their two Cup runs and come in and out of the lineup as needed. They mentioned that they could see Sheldon Keefe do something similar to what he did last year in games 1 and 2 against Tampa where he dressed the biggest and toughest lineup he could with the likes of Wayne Simmonds and Kyle Clifford drawing in to set the tone. Schenn would be one of those guys that would come in to "set the tone" and depending how the series goes could remain in or draw out to make way for someone like Timothy Liljegren.
