After trading Matt Murray due to concerns persistent injury issues and inconsistent play, the Ottawa Senators made a splash this summer, acquiring Cam Talbot from Minnesota to duel with Aton Forsberg for the starting role this season. Unfortunately for the Sens and Talbot, there won't be much competition for the first two months of the season as the Sens announced today that Talbot is out the next 5-7 weeks with an upper body injury.

That injury, according to Darren Dreger is believed to be a fractured rib. It likely occurred last Saturday and Talbot practiced through pain until tests were ordered to determine the severity of the injury.

Due to Talbot's injury, the Sens claimed Magnus Hellberg off of waivers from Seattle to provide backup support to Forsberg until Talbot is healthy again.
