Bettman unable to present the Stanley Cup on Sunday, per tradition; here's why

As is tradition, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman always presents the Stanley Cup to the winning team, as well as the Conn Smythe Trophy to the Playoffs MVP. Unfortunately, (or fortunately) for Colorado and Gabriel Landeskog, Bill Daly was the one presenting both trophies on Sunday. There was no "thank you for that warm welcome" after being booed, no black and white velcro Sketcher's with his suit and no smug, snarky smile.

Apparently Bettman was unable to present the Cup because he tested positive for COVID-19. Good for him for following the protocols, but it's disappointing that the tradition of him being booed had to be put on hold. It's my favourite part of any public presentation he makes. Oh well, I'm sure the boo birds will be out in full force come July 7th and 8th in Montreal at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
