On September 2nd, Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller signed an eight year extension with the team that will see him earn $8M per season starting in 2023-24. Since signing, however, Miller has been a lightning rod for controversy.

His most recent antics include yelling at Canucks goalie Collin Delia to leave the net so the Canucks could get an extra attacker on the ice before slamming his stick on top of the Canucks' net in frustration that Delia had not left the crease yet. Miller has been a polarizing figure at times throughout his career, but not as often as he has since the Canucks' struggles began this season - at least not publicly.

Now, according to Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli, Miller has apparently gained the reputation of "being a prick" inside the Canucks' locker room. It is certainly not what you want to hear if you are Canucks management and are about to begin forking out a boatload of cash over the next 8 years. Even if the Canucks decide that they want to trade Miller because of his newfound reputation, that reputation will make it hard for them to get any team trade for him.

The Canucks are seemingly in a "catch 22" with Miller as it is unlikely they want their prospects and young stars like Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes to develop under such a polarizing player that is criticized for his actions more than playing like the veteran he is and should be.
