Jets reportedly place yet another big name player on the trade block

It would appear as though the Winnipeg Jets are moving closer and closer to a scorched earth rebuild, as reporter Murat Ates is reporting on Monday that the Jets have made top line center Mark Scheifele available in trade discussions.

This is somewhat shocking, but should it be? We already know that the Jets may attempt to get creative to move the contract of captain Blake Wheeler and that 2nd line center Pierre-Luc Dubois has informed the Jets that he is not interested in signing a long term deal and wants his next deal to walk him to free agency. The writing is already on the wall.

Add to that the fact that 3rd line C Paul Stastny is a pending UFA who intends to test the free agent market this summer and there are a lot of key players in important positions and the leadership group potentially on the outs in Winnipeg.

At this point, if the Jets are going the rebuild route, I wonder how long it's going to be before we start hearing 2019-20 Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck's names come up in trade rumours.
