I have to say, I'm loving Sheldon Keefe's approach to training camp this season. He set the tone with a full team bag skate to start things off and has been extremely demanding ever since. Today, he stopped practice altogether to skate the team while demanding more physicality and intensity. It appears there are no free passes from Keefe this season. That includes goalies.

After Ilya Samsonov's impressive pre season debut against Ottawa, it's Matt Murray's turn to see game action next. Murray will play against the Canadiens tomorrow night. As for the roster in front of him, well, most of them haven't played 60 minutes in a Leafs uniform. Nylander, Jarnkrok, Kerfoot and Clifford are the only ones who have any real NHL experience to speak of among the forward group. The back end is a little stronger, as new faces Jordie Benn and Victor Mete will join Morgan Rielly, T.J. Brodie and Mark Giordano with Michigan native Tommy Miller rounding out the defensive group.

With cuts coming, Keefe appears to be looking for someone to step up among the forwards. Keep an eye on Robertson, Holmberg, Abruzzese and Steeves as candidates to step up, as these are all names who are vying for the limited spots that the Leafs have available. As for Murray, it's time to see whether his time in Ottawa was a bump in the road.
