Lightning player embellishes a high-stick by David Kampf, leading to game-tying goal

The Leafs took a 3-2 lead into the third period of Game 6, but unfortunately for the Buds, after about 8 minutes of good two-way action, they were issued a pair of penalties, both high-sticking infractions about 15 seconds apart, leading to a 5-on-3 PP for the Lightning.

There were issues with both the first penalty on David Kampf and the second penalty on Alexander Kerfoot, as Kerfoot's penalty on Victor Hedman was due to Hedman elevating his own stick while tied up with Kerfoot. As for Kampf's penalty, well, it wasn't actually a high-stick at all. Take a look at this sell job by Lightning defenseman Cal Foote after Kampf's stick hits him in the shoulder pad:


Ultimately, the Bolts would score one on the power play to tie the game at 3-3, though there were issues on the goal as well that could have warranted a coach's challenge by Sheldon Keefe. Corey Perry's stick made contact with Jack Campbell's stick as the puck ripped past him. In addition, Brayden Point was on the ice without his chin strap done up, which meant that he was actually not eligible to be on the ice.


Keefe elected not to challenge, due to the fact that if it came back unsuccessful, the Leafs would have had to kill off another 5-on-3.

With the game tied at the end of regulation, we are officially in "next goal takes it" territory. Will there be a Game 7 in Toronto, or will the Leafs break a lot of hearts in Tampa?
