Noah Gregor reveals how his PTO with the Maple Leafs came to be

Today, Gregor joined Nick Alberga and Jay Rosehill on Leafs Morning Take and was asked about his PTO and how it came together. Gregor revealed that the Leafs had interest from day 1.
"Ever really since the first day of free agency there, Toronto's kind of been a team that I've been in talks with. Obviously, I was looking for a contract throughout the summer and nothing really came about, but I always felt comfortable with Toronto and I had some good talks with Treliving and Keefe. I know [Shane Doan] as well, so I've had some good talks with the staff there and I felt like it was a good fit for myself and now I'm getting excited here for camp." - Gregor on his opportunity with the Leafs in training camp
After signing big fish like Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi at the start of free agency, Brad Treliving appears to be using the knowledge he had from his time in the Pacific Division and pursuing the likes of Gregor to help reshape the Leafs' bottom-six. Gregor brings an abundance of speed to the Leafs' forward group, as well as some depth scoring. Not only that, but he brings a physical presence as well, having registered 97 hits last season.
The PTO is a low-risk, high potential reward play for the Leafs given that Gregor is 25 and has 4 NHL seasons under his belt already. At the very least, they could sign him to an AHL deal to begin the season, and find a way to sign him to an NHL deal when and if needed.
