Oilers fan accusing the referees of colluding with the Leafs after video surfaces of what they're calling a ''missed goal''

The Leafs got their pound of flesh on Saturday, avenging their 5-2 loss to the Oilers on March 1st with a 7-4 win back in Toronto just 10 days later. But as thrilling as the comeback win was this weekend, there are some in Oil town who believe that the Leafs' win was tainted thanks to a team of officials and the "war room" choosing not to count a goal they had "scored" late in the 3rd period.

The play occurred with less than 2 minutes remaining in the 3rd, when a former Leaf, Zach Hyman, tried to jam the puck in past Matt Murray right in the blue paint. Originally, it was thought that the puck had hit the post. However, there are some in Edmonton who believe that the puck not only crossed the goal line, but went all the way to the back of the net and bounced out.

In the clip below, you can see what looks like the puck going in and out, but it's nothing more than a tricky camera angle. The puck strikes the post about a foot off of the ice, over top of the blue paint in the crease. Given the height of the puck and the angle of the camera, it makes it look like the puck hit the padding at the back of the net and came out.

The fact of the matter is that the puck never crossed the line at all. There are cameras inside the net, which would have shown if the puck had gone in and out. If it had gone in and out, we would have heard a goal horn during live play and the Oilers would have been awarded a goal and the clock would have been reset to the time of the goal. The fact that those things didn't occur is pretty telling.

The reason why the Oilers fan in question was so upset by this is that a goal in the final 2 minutes would have made this one a 1-goal game, 6-5 late in the third and might have altered the outcome. Unfortunately for the unhinged fan, the puck never crossed the line and the game ended 7-4.

Do you think this was a goal by Hyman, or did it hit the post?
