Tampa reveals their official injury list and Jon Cooper wasn't kidding.. it's a mile long

Following the Tampa Bay Lightning's heartbreaking loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday, Bolts head coach Jon Cooper insinuated that with a healthy roster, the Bolts are likely in the winner's circle once again this year. Cooper leaned on the fact that a number of significant injuries really hampered his team's ability to be as dominant as they've shown in the past that they can be.

Today, the Bolts revealed the extent of the injury issues that they were dealing with in the playoffs. According to the club, Brayden Point had played with a torn quad, Kucherov and Bellemare played through meniscus injuries, Ryan McDonagh suffered a "mangled finger" against the Rangers, Brandon Hagel suffered a foot fracture against Florida, and Corey Perry, Anthony Cirelli and Nick Paul all suffered AC joint sprains. Cirelli's will require surgery and Paul also suffered a sprained MCL.

Many of the Bolts players who had suffered injuries were players who had been with the team for the last two year's runs as well, and so it stands to reason that a lot of additional hockey has worn them down. You can count Perry in that group as well, since he's lost in the Finals 3 years running. For the new faces like Paul and Hagel, it's really just poor luck.
