With the Washington Capitals having been eliminated by the Florida Panthers in round 1, details of the extent of players' injuries are beginning to come out. In the case of Tom Wilson, who was injured during Game 1, it appears as though the rest of the postseason was not an option for him.

According to The Washington Post's Samantha Pell, Wilson suffered what is being called a "significant" knee injury which may or may not require surgery. Pell also reported that Capitals GM Brian MacLellan confirmed that Wilson would not have played for the remainder of the playoffs even if the Caps had gotten past Florida in round 1.

Wilson revealed on Sunday that he faces a lot of rehab this summer as a result of the injury and also responded to rumours that he had been spotted "flying around on the ice", admitting that he had skated, but that he was "definitely not flying around".

It's too soon to determine what might await the Caps this summer and whether or not there will be significant changes on the way, but Washington has not been the same team since they won the Stanley Cup in 2018. It wouldn't shock me to see some moves to try to improve the team.
