With less than two weeks to go until the start of the 2022-23 regular season, we're going to see teams shed a lot of excess weight in the coming days as they look to get as close to the 23-man roster limit as possible.

There were a number of players placed on waivers this week, including two former Leafs in Michael Carcone and Richard Panik. Now we have three more former Leafs on the waiver wire in Seth Griffith, Byron Froese and Michael Hutchinson.

Griffith last suited up in a Leafs sweater in 2016-17, playing just 3 games for the Leafs, though he spent the majority of that season in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies, playing 38 games for the Leafs' AHL affiliate. His stint in the NHL was nothing to write home about, but he did manage to post 44 points in those 38 games with the Marlies.

Meanwhile, Hutchinson was a member of the Leafs organization since 2018-19, save for a short stint in Colorado with the Avs as a deadline move in 2019-20. He played 2 games for the Leafs and 28 games with the Toronto Marlies last season. After spending four seasons in Toronto, Hutchinson signed a 1-year deal with the Vegas Golden Knights this summer as a UFA.

Lastly, Byron Froese was with the Leafs organization from 2014-15 through 2016-17 and suited up in 58 total games as a Leaf, producing just 5 points over that span. His most productive season with the AHL's Toronto Marlies came in his first year with the organization in 2014-15, when he scored 18 goals and 42 points in 46 games.

Joining the three former Leafs on the waiver wire on Saturday are Nate Schnarr, Louis Domingue, Sean Day and Ashton Sautner.
