We are saddened to hear about the news of former Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Ed Chadwick, who passed away at the age of 90. Our condolences go out to his friends and family.

The Toronto Maple Leafs' Twitter page were first to announce the news that former netminder Ed Chadwick sadly passed away.

The Fergus, Ontario native was born on the 8th of May, 1933. He played 5 seasons with the Maple Leafs before a short pit stop with the Boston Bruins. After the NHL, he finished his career in the AHL with the Hershey Bears between 1962-63 and 1963-64 before suiting up for the Buffalo Bisons from 1964-65 to 1967-68.

With the Maple Leafs he first played in just 5 games in 1955-56 but went 2-0-3 with a sparkling .977 SV% and a 0.60 G.A.A. He wound up being the starter the next 2 seasons but went 21-34-15 with a .905 SV% and a 2.66 G.A.A. in 1956-57 and a 21-38-11 record with a .888 SV% and a 3.19 G.A.A. in the following season.

He played just 31 games in 1958-59 where he posted a 12-15-4 record before splitting his 1959-60 season between the Rochester Americans of the AHL and the Maple Leafs.

He would suit up for 4 games for the Bruins in 1961-62 but spent the majority of his career post-1960 in the AHL with either the Americans, the Bears, or the Bisons. After his playing days came to an end, he coached Forth Worth Wings in 1973-74 to a 30-28-14 record but a first round exit and then returned the following season but failed to make the playoffs.

His final pit stop was with the Edmonton Oilers where he became a scout and wound up winning 5 Stanley Cups between 1984 and 1990.

Additionally he was named to AHL First All-Star Team in 1960, the Second All-Star in 1961 and 1965, and won the Harry "Hap" Holmes Memorial Award for fewest goals allowed in the AHL in 1960.

Rest in paradise, Ed.
