Troubling news regarding Leafs' top prospect, but it's not all bad

Selecting Easton Cowan may end up being Leafs head scout Wes Clark's crowning achievement. A pick that was seen as a reach at the time is now looking like an absolute steal at 28th overall. The Mount Brydges, ON native has been an absolute horse for the London Knights this season, scoring 88 points in just 50 games so far while playing in all situations. He's also riding a Knights record 32-game point streak. Not bad for a kid who was playing in the GOJHL just two years ago.
Unfortunately, Cowan was not able to play in Wednesday night's matchup between the Knights and the Erie Otters. The Knights announced before the game that Cowan had suffered an upper body injury and wouldn't be suiting up. With only 4 games left in the regular season, the timing certainly isn't ideal.Luckily, there are two pieces of very good news. One, Cowan's historic point streak will not be cut short. It only ends when Cowan plays a game without recording a point. Second, and more importantly, Cowan is listed as day-to-day, meaning that he should be back fairly soon, at the very least, in time to start the OHL playoffs.
Cowan is expected to challenge for a roster spot with the Leafs during training camp this coming fall.
