The Toronto Maple Leafs opted to cancel practice today and instead focused more on skill work after head coach Sheldon Keefe intimated that not a lot of players were unavailable today after having played last night.

However, some news did filter out after today's skate as we found out that Mitch Marner is set to miss the rest of the week with his ongoing high-ankle sprain. TSN's Darren Dreger talked about Marner's injury earlier in the week, stating that if the playoffs were to start today or if the Leafs were desperately looking to lock up a spot, Marner would be in the lineup.

So while that doesn't sound overly optimistic, Keefe continued by saying that he hopes to have Marner back at practice on Friday, or at least that's the plan:

"Progress looks to be good. He's in a good place, we just got to continue to build him up. "

The Maple Leafs conclude the week with games against Washington on Thursday and Buffalo on Saturday before they open the following week against Florida on Monday and Tampa Bay on Wednesday. Considering the importance both of those games in relation to the Atlantic Division standings, Marner's return would be opportune for a Maple Leafs team that has lost consecutive games.
